Though farming wasn't the career of choice for Abraham Lincoln, he certainly had connections to agriculture throughout his life. A new exhibit at the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum shows this, and last night I got to see it at a preview reception for museum members. The exhibit, "How Vast and How Varied a Field' The Agricultural Vision of Abraham Lincoln," opens to the public on Monday, June 15.

I'm interested to know your thoughts on the exhibit. It wasn't open when we were there just two weeks ago. I do remember walking by the area and thinking, "What does that have to do with Lincoln?" I'm anxious to find out.

I'm sorry I didn't get back with you yesterday. We took a very pleasant day trip to St. Louis with two of our grandchildren to see our other daughter's new home. I didn't do any blog maintenance or posting.
The exhibit is quite nice. I'm anxious, though, to go back when I can spend more time reading the narrative. There were just too many people there Thursday night to be able to linger and read.
The exhibit ties nicely to the Lincoln legacy in a number of ways, as did farm broadcaster Orion Samuelson's speech. I'm planning to write about it, but need to get some other things caught up first. I'll let you know when I do.
